During our ‘Food and Drink in European Painting’ tour at the National Gallery, we will travel through the history of European painting that incorporated edible items. We will discuss the different meanings attributed to apples, oranges, bread, nuts, wine, water, fish, oysters, and game in paintings produced during the past six hundred years.
