We will talk about some of the most famous art thefts and robberies of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. You will hear the curious tales about stolen Rembrandt, Goya and Vermeer, Munch’s ‘Scream’, the Irish mafia and Parisian ‘Spider man’, the FBI’s most wanted artwork, Oscar Wilde’s friendship ring, Hitler’s bronze horses and Byzantine mosaic in the comfort of your own home. The lecture is richly illustrated with 100 pages of full colour slides, useful info and maps.
•The talk will be delivered via Zoom by Julia, an art historian and NEJA’s Art and History Walks’ founder, on the day and time requested by you. •An hour before the start of the talk, we will send you the link to the Zoom session. •The price of the talk is per one person, the link can't be shared with others. •At the end of the talk you will have a chance to ask any questions. •After the talk, we will send you some further reading and watching suggestions. •All ages are welcome, no specific knowledge of art is required.
